Concrete Pattern

Concrete is one of the most commonly used materials to make surfaces in homes and even business establishments. Although on its own, it provides nice surfaces, one might want a better appearance for the surface. You do not need to look for a different material to make this happen. With stamped concrete patterns, you can get the unique look you want.

Apart from the improved look, some surfaces such as walkways also derive more benefits from the patterns. For instance, it is safer to walk on such a surface compared to a plain one since there are fewer chances of slipping and falling. The concrete patterns will also make the walkway more visible especially when you are using it with limited light.

Concrete patterns are also easy to achieve as long as one is familiar with this art. You only need to press the designs on to the grounds with cookie-like cutters to form the patterns. This allows you to pick any design that you feel comfortable working with. Even with its simplicity, it must be done professionally.

A professionally done project will ensure proper reinforcement to avoid cracking. It will also ensure that no weeds grow around the solid surface. If not done correctly, cracks are likely to occur and weeds will grow in between the cracks.

If you are thinking about using concrete patterns, you should have a surface that is at least four inches thick. If you are using colors, you can add them during mixing or after you have laid out the concrete. Normally there are two methods used for the application. The broadcasting method adds the color all across the surface while the integral method requires a releasing agent. This allows the texture to come off without the surface coming up.

You can also use a simplistic application method by using a broom to spread the mixture then using a mat to make beautiful designs. This will give you a truly unique look. If the cement you want to add concrete patterns to is old, you should also use acid. After this, let the cement dry for a period of twenty-four hours. This helps ensure proper drying and reduces chances of cracking.

A releasing agent might also be necessary after the acid treatment. This helps release pressure after which the surface should be washed and a seal applied. When applying concrete patterns either using colors or stamps, you must ensure proper observation of the laid down procedures. Even though cement is one of the strongest materials, a job done poorly will not last long.
